ESF InfoSession on Gender Equality

The first InfoSession on Gender Equality was organized by members of the Gender Equality Working Group at the ESF on 16. June. The main focus of this brief informative session was to provide ESF Staff with an overall understanding of the meaning and key concepts behind the term Gender, and how it relates to our everyday life and workplace.

Some recommendations to promote gender equality were presented together with the institutional measures that are being implemented at ESF.
The presentation was followed by a quiz where participants had to guess the involvement of men and women in academic research, care and household chores, among others.
The post-session survey showed that the majority of the attendees appreciated the content, especially how gender stereotypes lead to gender roles that limit our career opportunities.

The next InfoSession is planned for October, this time focusing on Open Access, another RRI key that ESF is implementing.
